Sooo good. Good, solid sci fi with lots of twisty political turns and really real and memorable characters. I read this series years ago but don't remember them well. Now I'm off to re-read the whole thing! ...more

This is one story that Bujold admits that she split in two. She was well into writing Barrayar when she decided to make them two separate books. The first two thirds of Shards of Honor are OK. It begins getting good in the last third. Then Barrayar is a GREAT BOOK.
