The Demolished Man is more of a crime caper novel than a straight sci-fi book. Set in New York 300 years in the future, most of the technology in Bester's book seems quaint now and his Espers, a more evolved human with mind-reading capabilities, only offer some opportunities for humor and confusion, nothing too involved. ...more
