In a word-AWESOME! Recommended through a fantasy site I follow and so glad I read it! This is probably the best or at least the most memorable book I have read so far this year. The writing was fabulous- - but there was just a bit too much of it and I found myself bored and struggling through the second 3rd of the book which was a real shame. Loved the premise and the writing. Look forward to more Claire North!

Deft and well-woven and delightfully complex in its ideas - as one would expect from the author. The first half was full of interesting things and the second half was just a great rollercoaster of coming-together of all those things. My only complaint would be that the ending has little time to linger before the book is over.
