This was marketed as a Discworld novel for 'younger readers,' but I
found the story and style to be no more (or less) juvenile than that
of any of Pratchett's other books. It's the 30th Discworld book, and
the first to feature the character Tiffany Aching (although i was
already familiar with her from reading 'Wintersmith' - I've never
tried to read Pratchett in order.)

Tiffany is a little girl still in mourning over the death of her beloved witch grandmother, when she learns that she is also witch. Tiffany then encounters the Wee Free Men, small people who love fighting, acting drunk, aren't too bright and have a serious case of Kleptomania. When her little brother is kidnapped by an evil queen, they go off on an adventure to distant wondrous lands and strange exotic dreams.
