I didn't read this one, but listened to the audiobook. At first it was a bit hard to get into the story - I think reading it would have been a lot easier with this one - as there are quite a lot of characters introduced, and while reading I definitely focus ONLY on the story, and not doing other things besides.

It then became clear that Erikson has a panaromic outlook, and that he's got the imaginative capacity to pull it off. There were some really great characters in this (Kruppe!),

Like in The Lord of the Rings, there is an entire mythology wrapped up in the back story that has radical implications on the plot of this first book. I'm glad Erikson is working on the 10th and final book. It looks like I may be able to read them all straig

This might be the single best fantasy novel I have read to date. I can't wait to read the rest.
