No full review on my latest grown up reading. I enjoyed the story but didn't LOVE it. I wish that the author had opened each chapter with a different flower as Annie Proulx did with knots in The Shipping News.

Recommended for YA. Thought the narrator is a teen mom and makes some poor choices, the content/sex is appropriate for grades 10+.

This seems to be a popular topic in novels these days. Are people really getting into the Victorian language of flowers these days?

Shelves: good-chick-lit
A nice read, but slightly predictible plot. The main character has major abandonment issues. The information about flowers and their meaning will no doubt renew interest in this Victorian practice.

Oh, so good! The feelings of Victoria are evident through her accounts of events, both as a child and as an emerging adult. Her growth into a competent adult, and the building of a feeling of family, were well written.

A quick read. There were parts that were intense and tough to read, parts that were beautiful. Unfortunately I didn't feel like the rest of the book meshed the disparate parts all that well. ...more
