Loved it and stayed up way too late because I just had to find out what happened. Admittedly, I skimmed over some of the paragraphs full of math, physics and other technical scientific stuff, but that in no way took away from the rest of the story. Really liked Watney's character and loved how the whole plot unfolded.

Not a great work of literature, but a GREAT read! This story of an astronaut marooned on Mars is written mostly in journal form, which is why it's not great literature, but it is nevertheless well written. I am amazed at everything the author thought about as to what it would take to survive on Mars. I couldn't put it down. Thanks for the recommendation, @Becky Kuhn!

Who would think a science fiction book about a really terrible life and death situation would have me laughing so much? I blazed through reading because I had to know how things were going to end. Surprising, fascinating, and funny.
This book made me laugh, cry and cheer. Sometimes it gets bogged down in tech specs but I loved the characters, the farm and the quest for a happy ending.
For all intents and purposes, it felt like I was reading a Heinlein juvenile, just with less engaging characters.
