What Members Thought

This is the first of Hannah's books that I have ever read, and I am now a fan. I first picked up this book because I love all things Eiffel Towers. I enjoy historical fiction in the World War II era, and quickly fell into the book. Although the first half was a tad slow, it developed the characters and set the stage. By the last half, I read it for hours at a time and finished it in two settings.

This book is so important in so many ways. It's the story of two sisters in German-occupied France during WWII, when survival, even for those not directly targeted, was an accomplishment in and of itself. But these women did more, so much more and although, "there were no parades for [women] when it was over, no medals or mentions in history books," this book is a tiny acknowledgment of "them" (page 436). One of my new favorites (even though it is so, so sad) and a must-read.
