What a great book - the writing is beautiful and it really is one of those can't-put-it-down reads. The author is so honest and truthful - and because of that, there were times I really didn't like her and times I loved her. I appreciated the honesty of the distant relationship with her husband and how that carried over to his family, and how what looks so perfect on the outside might not really be so.

There's no question that Hamilton knows her way around a sentence in the same way she's mastered the kitchen. This disappointing memoir, however,spends relatively little time in the kitchen itself. I wanted to hear her philosophies of cooking, see her on the line. Much time is devoted to her immediate family history--her parents' divorce and its negative effect on her.
