I didn't want to read this book for a long time because face it, the villains of the piece are right wing Christians who are against abortion. Like me. Of course, I don't agree with the society portrayed in the book (Gilead) and just because I am pro-life doesn't mean I want the kind of misogynistic society portrayed here.
But it has become a modern classic, and my understanding is that it is taught in high schools nowadays, so in the spirit of knowing my enemy, I read it. It's certainly a chill ...more
