It's hard to look at an Agatha Christie book with fresh eyes. I’d like to think Hercule Poirot is famous even if you don’t read mystery novels. The mystery formula of the intelligent private detective using his or her wits and powers of deduction to cut through the false leads and discover both murder and motive are expected and commonplace. Having grown up watching episodes of Murder, She Wrote and Colombo (I'm dating myself here I guess) I saw this play out on a weekly basis. It’s hard to see ...more
