I was very frustrated with this book. The premise is good: Jake Epping, a high school teacher whose wife has just left him, is introduced to a time portal which will take him back to September 1958. He can stay in the past as long as he likes (hours or years) but will always return two minutes later than he left. 11/22/63 was a riveting read. The time travel device was smooth and cleverly done. The contrast between 2012 and the late 1950s was continually highlighted; Stephen King included soooooo many details of life from that other age. The characters were fascinating, and the action was fast-paced. I just could not put this door-stopper down!
