Oh boy, right? This is a fantastic premise. Fifteen years ago, if I'd gotten a peek at my current Facebook page I would be SOO relieved. Also appalled. And really confused. Same with Emma and Josh. In a great exchange, Josh wonders who in their right mind would share so much personal information on the Internet, and Emma answers, "Exactly. I'm going to be mentally ill in fifteen years, and that's why my husband doesn't want to be around me." What is more, they find that the pages change in unexp

Emma and her best friend Josh, high school students in 1996, end up with access to the Facebook profiles of their future. A clever and interesting idea, I'm just not sure it quite works in a novel for young adults.
I loved Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why and I enjoy Mackler's bite in The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things. And their relevant, authentic voices are largely lacking in this collaborative work.

It was a good premise, but, really, just musing here, I hoped Emma would hope for more than just finding love. I mean there's so much more to hope for, but maybe it's more realistic to expect a 17 y/o to hope for future love than growing as a person first. anyway, I liked the idea of it and as a romantic, I liked the finding true love part, jus ...more

Ehh.. I love the concpet and I guess the Moral of the story but it dragged on for me! I would love to be able to see my future but also I couldn't live knowing my future this book made you think about every little thing you do affects your future! Living life for your future is not a a way to live! This book makes you think but I had to force myself to finish!

The Future of Us tells the story of two young friends, Emma and Josh. Together they use Emma’s first computer to explore the world of AOL using a CD-Rom sent in the mail. Little do they know that they are about to discover Facebook and read about what their lives will be like 15 years in the future.
As a person who grew up during the popularity of AOL, cell phones, and Facebook...I found this book to be a bit comical at times which I enjoyed! I also like that it reflected the life of typical hi ...more
