Loved, loved, loved this book! When this book was shown as one of my Goodreads recommendations I was really unsure of whether or not it would interest me. The premise of the book sounded interesting enough but I was worried that the book would be too heavy on the romance but I was pleasantly surprised. Lena the book's protagonist lives in a future society that requires that all citizens over 18 be given the cure to ensure they don't fall in love. The society where she lives feels that love is a ...more

I'm a sucker for speculative fiction, particularly when it's a false utopia. Oliver's prose is clear and her ideas sharp, both of which make the book thoroughly enjoyable and difficult to put down. Recommended. Now, to get my hands on a copy of Pandemonium! ...more

This is another dystopian YA novel that has gotten a lot of hype. In the Delirium world, love is a disease and people undergo a medical procedure around 18 to cure themselves of it. The book tells the story of high school senior, Lena, and her struggle to grow up in this world.

I found Oliver’s world to be believable and well-detailed and I liked her writing style. It was a book with an interesting concept, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as other people seemed to… I think I’m just not interested i

The book has a decent premise. I think that a lot of the complications with the ending could have been avoided if the characters weren't being so... well... dumb. The ending actually really bothered me because if they had been a little more logical (which they should have been, seeing as their entire lifestyle is based on logic) what ended up happening wouldn't have happened. I'll read the sequel, if I have time. ...more

OMG! The ending!

I don't want to ruin it but WOW!

I was really intrigued by the concept of this book. The whole society that thought love was a disease. I think Oliver did a great job of making this world seem believable. Part of me was right there with Lena in the beginning when she believed that love was a disease. It was awesome to be able to take the journey with her and fall in love with Alex.

I really enjoyed this book :)

When I first started reading this book, it reminded me a lot of "Uglies" by Scott westerfield. Now that I've finished the book, I still think it is similar to that book and a lot of other dystopian, young adult lit but that doesn't make it any less of an exciting ending! A good romance and a good adventure. I look forward to the next one!

This book was great. Some parts were a little too over-analyzed at points, little things like (not actually in the book, but just an example) "I walked down the stairs gracefully, having my foot touch every step like it was essential to my life." Things like that. But overall this book was great, and I'm DYING to read the second edition to the Delirium ...more
