What Members Thought
The introduction states that "this book is a work of creative nonfiction". The author writes vignettes as if they were told by the women being profiled and by people that they met during their experiences. However, it isn't actually in there own words and in some cases may not even be by specific people. I did learn something about these women by reading the book, but if I had realized this earlier I would have bought an actual biography instead.
