Average plot, new character didn't grab me.
The early books in the Department Z series each have a different chief agent, usually due to the marriage of the previous one. (Gordon Craigie, chief of Department Z in British Intelligence will not employ married men.) I found it disconcerting that the new character Tony Beresford, the chief active agent of Department Z had not been mentioned in Book 3 of the series and was not introduced with any explanation about why.
