What Members Thought

The story line was so-so. a couple goes to Nigera (such a wonderful tourist attraction I knoww!) to renew their relationship after the wife cheated on the husband, they save a girl by chopping off the wife's middle finger. So 2 odd years later this girl who was saved in Nigeria, just got out illegally from a dentention center to find her rescuers. yet the husband killed himself, so the wife has to deal with her, a son who will only wear a batman suit and only be called Batman, and her job.

I really did like it. Enjoy it, meh. The subject matter is definitely something I don't tend to lean towards when I'm looking for things to read in fiction but it is something I can appreciate for sure. I wouldn't say it was amazing and if anything the marketing technique where its all hush hush big secret takes a bit away from really being able to appreciate it. However I think I do understand a bit of why it was marketed in this fashion. The book is about the story of a refugee and her journey

I was immediately absorbed in this book but didn't expect or appreciate the ending. I feel like it was two different books- the one before Little Bee's awful conversation with Lawrence and all that happened after that. Why did she need to get deported? Really? This book gets a 3 out of 5 because I was able to put it down and not think about it or yearn for more. I can not pinpoint a reason for that. Maybe i was not to intrested in the subject matter or the book was too deep and meaningful when I could have used an easier read right now.
However the book was very well written. I liked the way we where able to read both women's perspectives, till the end. I wish that they gave Sarah more of a voice at the end.

I think I liked it, but I can't fully decide.

I really liked how this book was written - written in the voices of the two protagonists and the style of writing. I liked the plot but too many things happening in the end so that it was like a roller coaster. It seemed like the author kept changing him mind about how he wanted to end the story. Would definitely recommend it though!
