This book should be called Slapstick in Space.

I'm not usually one to laugh while reading as comedy is quite often a very visual thing, but quite a few times I found myself chuckling out loud. I can see why Red Dwarf comparisons are made, but I felt the book was channeling the likes of Abbott and Costello, The Three Stooges and the Marx Brothers.

I bought the whole series in eBook form, but I'm now going to buy them all in paperback as a gift for my father. I'm sure he'll love this.

I enjoyed this story. It was humorous, but not hilarious as billed. Hal needs takes on a desperately needed job and is forced to accept the customer's ancient robot as a pilot. ...more

Nice! I really wasn't sure what to expect - what I got was a fun, light, scifi-ish read. I spent a lot of time grumbling at the terribly inept Hal, however, Navcom, and Clunk (especially), saved the day! The story is more ridiculous than humorous, but it still works. I am happy I decided to purchase the omnibus.
