This is a minor bit of Victorian soap opera. There is the usual very emphatic characterisation for which Dickens is so well known and some moralistic fantasy elements. It isn't up to "A Christmas Carol" but is still worth reading.

This is a short book, but I've struggled for awhile to finish it. Just did not hold my attention. Gerald Dickens (great-great grandson of Charles) was an excellent narrator which is the only reason I finally finished it!
