What I learned from this book is how RUDE some siblings can be to one another. I am an only child but technically I have a half-sister but we do not have a relationship. This relationship was interesting to see how blood siblings from the same mother and father can be envious of one another. Can't we all just get along?

I had to read a less stressful book following Harry Potter, and although In Her Shoes does have moments of sadness and indignation, at least death isn't constantly lurking in the corner. The story is a about forgiveness and moving on and empowerment, and I like it, dammit.
