LKH finally takes us back to the Anita of old! The first 20 chapters kinda dragged for me because we have to do the same song and dance w/Anita fighting w/the men in her life to go fight the bad guys, then fight w/the police about all the men in her life. That story gets kinda old book, after book, after book. So, if you can just hold out till about chapter 24, the kick ass Anita returns! In this installment, Anita is faced w/flesh eating zombies that are being controlled by a powerful vampire. ...more

So far so good. This is one of the best well-written Anita Blake novel in the series.... Reading this book reminds of the time I was reading the first few books in the series. I could not put it down. The story was very engaging and I was happy to know Anita finally embraced her Necromancy...

"Edward knelt by us, pulling the silver hood off the fire suit. He grinned at me. "Whose the biggest, baddest motherfucking necromancer?"

"I smiled at him, and said, "This girl."

Anita using her Necromancy m

First off no hating LKH for her cutesie-pie author's photo on the back! She looks relaxed and happy if a bit self-conscious, wearing the boots that made Jean-Claude famous in Guilty Pleasures. Go LKH! She's trying to lighten up, just like Anita is in this book.Just look at LKH's previous book jackets and see the difference.

I wrote a long review, but my stupid notebook erased just as I completed it. GD! I gave it four stars, so I liked it. I liked it in spite of the usual detractions of an AB vam

The story started on a very good note: Anita get's a call from Micah's mother informing her that his father is dying of an unusual preternatural infection. Since the attack came from a zombie and it's Anita stock and trade....it really looked like something I would love to read.

Since there is travelling involved, it's the perfect time to perform the info dump and discuss in details all the intricacies of Anita's relationships with everyone in her life. This plot device has it's use but after 22

Oh how I have missed Anita and her awesome band of hot, hunky, dangerous vamps and were shifters. It felt like coming home.
Anita is kick ass but she's grown a lot. She is finally giving herself permission to love and be loved. To be vulnerable and able to lean on others. More trusting...more everything.
And my favorite characters got to fill some of the pages...Jean Claude of course...Nathaniel, Nicky...and on and on. Jean Claude is one of my all time favorite master vampires and he does not dis

This book did not disappoint. Anita travels to be with Micah as he visits his estranged family. His father was infected by something and is expected to die. Because of who Anita is to Jean-Claude and who Micah is, they need permission to travel and to take body guards with them. Once there a new kind of Zombie is found to be causing problems in the area and Marshall Blake ends up as part of the team trying to take them out. One of her bodyguards has to be put down and she is caught on media doin ...more

so glad this book is a case that Anita works on. Plenty of action, some humor, less over describing of everyone's hair, and some sex (but once is just with Jean Claude, about time). Good twist with who the big bad is. And so much Edward, once he arrives.
This book will make you want to hold Micah close. It has such sad moments, and such happy ones too, and some soul searching on many of their parts. Glad to have more Jean Claude in it, and Truth & Wicked are in it. This books shows a new side to

I waited about a year for the latest in this amazing series. It was definitely worth the wait. Laurell K. Hamilton is an amazing writer and you just find yourself immersed in the world of Anita in a way that not many authors can do. Many favorite characters appear in this latest installment and there is a lovely mix of vampires, zombies, and were-animals. New things are learned, and I eagerly anticipate the next installment in this clever series.

This book started off good and overall I think it was better than the last few that have come out in the series, but there was something about this that just fell flat for me. I felt like a HUGE portion of this book was taken up by just Anita having pissing contests with macho police officers in order to prove she's the biggest bad ass around. It got boring really fast in these parts and I had to drag my way through them.

I did enjoy that this book seemed to go back to the roots of the series an

Better...but better than the last few isn't saying much...it almost has to be...Anita, you used to be a strong female character who I loved...now you're a stupid bitch who thinks she's not a monster when she really is...not everyone wants to sleep with you....and the reason the cops have a problem with you isn't your lovers, it's your attitude and the face you throw your lovers in their face, like kissing Wicked and Truth in the graveyard. I can't stand Jean-Claude, haven't since the first book. ...more

After the last couple of books I was afraid to come back to the series. But, now I can't wait to read the next one. I felt the structure has gone back to the original format it focuses on the story and no real over the top craziness with the sex scenes. But the one thing I get annoyed with is the final scene it takes like 300-400 pages to get to the final showdown which is only a chapter and the resolution is only 5 pages? Argggh

But overall loved it!!
