This is the first book I have read by this author, and I was NOT disappointed. I usually struggle getting into the futuristic/sci-fi settings,but I had no problem with this one. For one thing, the characters were well thought out and the plot seemed to go really smooth.

A word of warning, this book is not for readers who are easily offended by strong sexual situtations, strong language, violence or light BDSM.

Dr. Tessa Bergin is on a scientific expedition from Earth to Nardyl. Expecting to see an advanced civilization, she is surprised to discover a dead planet with no survivors. (she thinks) When they land their shuttle onto the planet to explore, Tessa decides to stay behind. Her friend Layleh, and a few others go out to explore the planet to see if there is any live resources Earth can benefit from.
When Layleh doesn't return and the other crew members refuse to go after her, Tessa decides to take matters into her own hands and look for her herself.
While looking for her friend, she is attacked by beings that resemble the old world paintings of demons. While fighting off her attackers, she is rescued by one of them and flown to safety (he has wings)
Lucien had decided to rescue the human at the last minute. Watching the others attack her ship, and not wanting her to be attacked and hurt, he puts his own life in danger to help her. Lucien is immediate drawn to Tessa. He has seen pictures of humans, and even though she is from a more primative civilization, he admires her strength, loyalty and intelligence.
Although Lucien is not your normal Hero, I found him very interesting and really was on his side throughout the book. He is not that Alpha, not to say he isn't stubborn and he protects Tessa with his life, he basically was more Beta to me. He is intelligent (he was also a scientist) and falls quickly in love with Tessa. There were times I wanted to shake Tessa-she said some pretty horrible things to him-but I found myself really rooting for them. (so what if he kinda looks like the devil...lol)
I am looking forward to reading the next book-and others-(on the way from New Concepts..wooo hooo) about Layleh and the Anjel from Henven.

Shelves: sci-fi-romance

This was a very enjoying read. I very much liked the fact that the two characters have d due to the differences develop an inner struggle, but I also liked very much the fact that, at the end of the day, the story is about love and how it surpasses physical differences. Even though a sci-fi erotic romance, where the hero is close to the medieval depictions of the devil, I thoroughly enjoyed the love story and was left with a feeling of wellbeing after finishing reading.
