I actually read this book while on my honeymoon. Well, you got to read something while lounging by the pool.
I learned that Osama bin Laden and I lived in the same neighborhood in Peshawar, Pakistan in the late 1980s. Coll did a lot of digging to put together this epic book. It can read as a dry history book at times, but that shouldn't stop anyone from reading it. Should be read along with Charlie Wilson's War and Taliban by Ahmed Rashid.

Absolutely fascinating and thorough. A bit too thorough perhaps. Every detail is recorded and the source list in the bibliography is massive. Well-done, but a bit windy. A more concise version would have earned 5 stars from me.
