3.5.

I have to explain my rating a bit. I ADORE the Norse myths, and so the stories itself would obviously get 5 stars from me. It was lovely to revisit some of my favourite stories. But since Neil Gaiman just retold the myths I can really only rate the writing style itself, which wasn't SUPER special but the stories were well told and sometimes quite humorous.

Parts of this made me laugh out loud! Also, I just love hearing Gaiman read his books. The audio version is awesome.

Read this book was a nostalgic punch for my heart, I felt as such as children discovered the Nordic myths so I enjoyed the reading a lot. I strongly recommend it to anyone who loves mythology even if you only know a bit thanks to Marvel Universe.

Because it's a retelling, there are only brief moments where you see the author himself. If you're looking for Gaiman, he's a shadow. But a good, quick read for those who love mythology and folk tales. ...more
