I absolutely loved how specific to place the details in this book were. While the story that Chelsea Johnson tells is universal, she is very deliberate in placing it in the mid to late 90s through the first decade of the 21st-century in the alternative neighborhoods of Portland. Her characters attitude sometimes reflect both the worst, sometimes by phobic, and best, committed to DIY culture and community, attitudes of that time.Awesome also does an excellent job of, when we step into h ...more
