What a great birthday gift.

Really, really compelling. I thought the resolution of the mystery had a little less depth than I expected -- it was just a "here's the thriller part" section for me. Fortunately, the heart of the book is far less the "locked-room" mystery and far more the characters. And I loved Lisbeth Salander.

Ok, it took forever but I finally finished it. The book would be great if it stuck to the murder mystery (which is partly obvious but still fun). Instead about 1/3 of the book is the mystery & the rest deals with business politics. I think this is one situation where the movie may be better than the book. It was extremely boring up til the last 150 pages. Then got boring again in the last 30 pages. Of course this is just my opinion, there are millions who did like it. I don't see myself rushing

I really had to work through the first 200 pages of this book! It's a book club selection, so I kept plugging and I'm certainly glad that I did. Once I got past page 200, I didn't want to put it down.
Incidentally, I had purchased The Girl Who Played with Fire from Audible, not realizing it was part of a series. I tried to listen, but I was totally lost. Now I'm going to go back to it...but I'm not sure that this book is suited to an audio version. I may end up buying the paperback. ...more
