Very good "prequel" to HP Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", telling the story of how Obed Marsh came into contact with the Deep Ones and made his fateful arrangement with them. A lot of this book is supposed to come from documents written by Obed and others in the nineteenth century and I had to take a star off since the writer doesn't quite manage to pull off the style of 1800's writing.
