My review for this somehow disappeared when I added the date that I read it for the second time. (It might be the third time; I'm not sure.) Anyway, I love this book. You need to be the kind of person who likes scenes of people just sitting around talking to like this. There isn't that much action or plot, although there are a ton of things going on - relationships, politics, careers. I love how it gives me such a sense of the time and place and society. I love this book! Great historical detail, characters you can care about, makes you feel like you are there. After I read it I got to see the statue of Thalia in the National Portrait Gallery in London and just couldn't get over seeing Anne's and Eliza's names on the placard. ...more
