After North America was almost destroyed, the nation of Paem emerges. There are 12 districts which they keep under a tight rein by staging The Hunger Games each year. Where two "tributes" from each district fight to the death in an arena. This has become great entertainment. This year, Kaitliss' sister is chosen as tribute so she steps in to take Prim's place.

The Hunger Games was a fast-paced, well written story that grips you from the first sentence and doesn't let go. It's one of those stories that you can't get out of your head, one that haunts your dreams.
I love to read action and adventure stories. This one was definitely not lacking in action! And Katniss is a wonderful character. Peeta is so sweet, Gale a perfect best friend.

I saw the movie before I read the book. In many ways, the two are similar, but there are some major differences. The ending is a key part that is very different in the book. You also learn a different side to Katniss and Peeta's relationship.
I ended up loving this book, which is surprising since I saw the movie first. In all my years, this is the only book I enjoyed reading AFTER I saw the movie based on it. While I knew most of what would happen, I didn't detract from the writing or getting to ...more

This is definitely one of the best series in the world, if they make a movie of it I'm camping out in front of the theater. Honestly starting off reading this I was a little wary on where it was going. I tend to like books more about romance. I wasn't even sure what the gender was at the beginning. After I read this one I just couldn't wait for Catching Fire.

This book was just as good as everyone says. Can't believe I waited this long to read it. Katniss is such a humble bad ass and has quickly pushed her way into my list of favorite female protagnist. TEAM PEETA!!

There must be something wrong with me, kan? :D

Well, This book is OK on my list is not one of my favorites. A lot of people recommended it to me as being great and I was expecting something better. The story is ok the games and the romance but I don't think this is a book that I would read over again. It took me a long time to read it as thought it was dragging.
