What Members Thought

AH man, KSR at his best. Very enjoyable hard sci-fi / space opera. Ark ship, colonisation, tons of fascinating science, as only KSR can do. Intricate balances of culture, biology, orbital mechanics and human engineering their way out of tight corners. I loved the main character Freya and especially loved the Ship (who made a really cool narrator for bits of it). This is what hard core science fiction is all about! I wish I had time to give this book the review it deserves but I'll just have be happy saying that I loved this book. It is a great blend of science, imagination, character, and story. The tropes you would expect are there, but they are taken in directions that I didn't see coming. My only gripe is that the ending, while beautifully consistent with story, is not the ending that I was secretly hoping for. :)
