A real page turner, it was hard to put this book down. I'm deducting a star primarily because of the chaste-young-love triangle woven into the story. Yes, yes, I know that's the main draw for the primary audience of this book! Sorry to be a typical dude, but KEE-RIPES, how often do we have to see this plot device? Does she love Peeta or Gale? Oh how ever will she decide? (Cue the weepy violins)

The series consumed me. I couldn't put the books down, I hardly slept and when I did, I had nightmwres that I was in the hunger games myself. The long term effect of war and political games on children is so devastating that it made this fictional post-apocalyptical world completely real to me. My sleep-patterns are better now, but I wish the series hadn't ended.

Easily a five star. I couldn't put it down from the first page and the last page had me begging for more. Wonderful pacing and endearing characters. I was also astounded by the plot. It kept me guessing and never too a turn I expected.

It was as good as everyone said it was. Nice series of twists and turns. Great characters. The kind of writing that doesn't get in the way of the story being told. I can't help comparing it to "Battle Royale" which I read many years ago a really liked. In some ways this book was better (such as with creating the backstory) but in some ways it was worse (the action was more fluid and detailed in Battle Royale). Anyway, I highly recommend this book!
