So it appears I just read 1100 pages of "historial science fiction". So, historical fiction in World War II-era England, with some overtures to time travel peppered in. As usual, I enjoyed looking up all the different towns and geographies mentioned throughout the diptych, but as science fiction it was "meh" and as fiction, it was also "meh." Great read but it is horribly confusing. The jumps in time and from character to character (most of them with multiple names) could be frustrating to someone who doesn't love that sort of thing. Wonderful history lesson on WW II in England.

As with Blackout, a good editing would have catapulted this novel into the realm of five stars, but despite being windy in the extreme, I read it in no time flat and was sad to not have more to look forward to when I was done.
