Whether you read SF or not, Ray Bradbury writes beautifully. His style is dreamy and lyrical, satirical and funny, and at times creepy as hell.
This book is interconnected short stories, rather than a novel in the traditional sense. It describes the imagined human colonization of Mars. I'm not a big fan of short stories, but I have to say, Bradbury is a master of them. He could take an idea, crystallize it to its purest form, and then put it out in a story that you can't help but read to the end. I sincerely admire that.
On the other hand, there are some serious failures of imagination on his part. The societies in this book never traveled much past what was familiar to Bradbury, which makes it kind of hard to read these days. I was glad the book was short for that very reason ...more

I read the paperback version at least once fully & bits of it more times over the years, so I added it to my books when I joined GR. It had been too long to give it a review, though. Recently I listened to it as an audio book. I reviewed it here:
