This book is important. There is no other way to explain it. It is an important story that in my opinion, everyone should be reading.
This book is insanely hyped and for a good reason. It made me frustrated and heartbroken and hungry for change. While it isn’t a perfect book, it deals with the topic of police brutality realistically and mindfully; perfectly. This book made me cry in public about 8 times (I’m not exaggerating) not just because I was upset for the characters but because I was upset ...more

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas definitely lived up to it's hype. I can't believe it took me that long to even read it. I really recommend the audiobook because it immersed me into the story way more than the book did. Either way everyone should give this book a chance because it lived up to it's hype ...more

Such an important book and one everyone should read!
I would have never guessed this was Angie Thomas's debut novel-SO WELL WRITTEN! Star is a wondrous lead in this story. I loved her so much. Thomas clearly went to lengths to make her realistic, personable and relatable and it was so fun reading through her.
I can't say enough good things about this book. Pick it up and experience it for yourself!

MY OPINION: *****
This book inspired me to start a six-star bookshelf on Goodreads.
THAT IS HOW GOOD IT WAS
I have read a couple of really good reviews (5-stars not the quality) and a couple of really bad reviews (1-star not the quality). Overall, I agree with the 5-star reviewers.
This book was POWERFUL. AMAZING. MINDBLOWING.
I have never read a better book.
Seriously. Now I have something to say when someone asks me what my favorite book is.

Now, I finally also read this book and what should I say? I didn't love it... I really wanted to like this and before I go into my review, I want to say that I respect the author for writing this book, because the topic is definitely important and I am sure it wasn't easy writing about this topic. However... the execution just wasnt good.
The characters felt flat to me and basically had no development or I just didn't see the development. Anyway in the end I felt like they were all the ...more

This book was really different from other books I've read, it shows more of a modern perspective of racism. I loved how it connected to real life and events that are happening now. This book showed the beauty of family and friends, for me this whole book was beautifully and modernly written.
