Given the popularity of Narcos, I am surprised that more readers haven't read the Fruit of the Drunken Tree -a great debut novel that follows a young girl growing up in Columbia during the Escobar era. It doesn't delve too heavily into the politics so you won't be bogged down in details. This book is entertaining and offers readers a different and uncommon setting. Entertaining.
