I don't think there are too many picture books out there that so seamlessly incorporates two different ethnic backgrounds. Alma Flor Ada has perfectly balanced this story between the English-speaking grandparents and the Spanish-speaking grandparents. In fact, the balance is so carefully and evenly maintained that it felt a little forced to me and made the story feel not quite as real.
