This is one of my favorite Nora Roberts books. Actually, the first time I read it, I thought it was good, but didn't love it. But for whatever reason, the story stuck in my head and I found myself wanting to read it again. So I did, about a year later, I guess. And it became one of my favorites.

The book has a little bit of everything, which is perhaps why I like it so much. Love and betrayal, family reunions, horses, mystery, self-discovery...and so much more. I enjoy the story alone because of

Okay, so that was pretty good as far as NR's suspense romances go. I'd say I liked about half of them more and half of them less than this book. The narrator was pretty good though, so there is that!

I thought the race horses were really interesting. I thought the gambling would bother me, but there just wasn't that much of it. The people (and horses *sadface*) getting killed made for an intriguing suspense element. I knew just enough of both sides (good and bad) to keep me satisfied wit

I was glad to discover I haven't yet read all of NR's hard cover books...but bummed to see that it was about a subject (horse racing/breeding) she'd also covered in some Silhouette romance versions as well...still enjoyed it though but not as much as I could have.... ...more

Nora Roberts is one of my favorite writers, but in this book her pacing of the story seems to be off. Even when she isn't so good, Roberts is still better than most. ...more
