I love this series, but I’m a little disappointed with this book. I’m a big fan of closure and this book is full of it. After finishing you’ll have no excuse to ponder the “what-ifs” because everything is explained. In a way, it all comes too easy. I expected to the stakes to be raised a little more. There is no sacrifice in this book. The end was very anticlimactic, but I’m sure there was a moral there. It’s just Breaking Dawn is the 4th and final installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga. There is no sacrifice in this book. The end was very anticlimactic, but I’m sure there was a moral there. It’s just not what I expected after the Fire and Ice chapter in Eclipse.

I was glad to see Bella become a stronger heroine and I think her relationship with Edward was very ideal after her vampire conversion. “Ideal” is a nice concept and it makes for good fiction. But there were several things I just thought were too weird, so I’m calling foul on -
#1 – Bella and Edward conceived a child. What!? SM is quoted on the Twilight Lexicon declaring that vampires cannot have children because the have no bodily fluids (that includes semen). Was this an intentional deception? I hope not.
#2 – Jacob imprinted on Renesme! I’m married and I can deal with a lot of adult relationships, but this is beyond understanding. I know that’s the magic of imprinting, but I would rather have seen Jacob find happiness away from (or a little more distanced) Bella. It just seems too incestuous.
#3 – There are several scenes that seemed to be gratuitous or hyped – (a) the honeymoon getaway didn’t help me join Bella and Edward in my mind and I don’t know why, (b) the J. Scott attorney forger and his relationship with Jasper wasn’t explained well, and (c) the vampire gathering just seemed unnecessary and I just don’t think it instrumental enough to the story.
#4 – Charlie took this way too well. It wasn’t natural at all! “I’m on a need to know basis.” Ummm… No. And what happened to Renee?

At any rate, I’m happy for the characters and I’m glad to have closure. The love affair is over. Finally, I can move on.

Regarding SM’s writing style, I was pleased to see SM switch from Bella to Jacob in 1st person POV. SM is a good story teller, but this isn’t a magnificent work of literature. It’s was a just fun read, but I was really expecting a lot (maybe too much).

Don't worry I'm not giving anything away in this review...(at least i hope not)...im just giving my reaction here...i just finished this book and all that i have managed to say is "!!!!!" and just "wow". this was the best ending to a series that ive ever read (yes, even better than harry potter ending). i couldn't be more satisfied with this ending. i think everyone will feel the same. of course, i still dont understand the cover with the story but its not like i really understood all the other ...more

I loved this book! It was a wonderful ending to one of my favorite stories. The characters were true as ever, there were twists that I didn't expect, and it ended just as it should.

Being from Washington State I now want to visit Forks! Maybe I'll run into my own Edward Cullen. ;) ...more
