Vampires in America is one of my most favorite series, I have read and reread them all. Unfortunately Vincent was my least favorite. I never felt any connection to the story. Yes the sex was hot like always but other than that my interest didn't pick up until the very end when Raphael showed up. This picks up where Unforgiven left off so while 'Vincent' can be read as a standalone, readers really should have read 'Unforgiven.'

Vincent Kuxim, lieutenant to Mexico's Vampire Lord Enrique Fernandez del Solar, knows he could defeat Enrique if push came to shove but he's content to keep to a status quo basis. That is until Lana Arnold shows up at his door with a message from Raphael. Why would a Vampire Lord from another jurisdiction contact a lieutenant over a fellow Lord? He's asked to accompany the human to find a mythical ancient Vampire thought to be living somewhere in Mexico. The question is why is Raphael interested in this one certain vampire and how long will it take Vincent to get Lana into his bed? Everything else is secondary.

What Vincent learns as the pair races across Mexico looking for the ancient is that he's been wearing rose colored glasses in regards to Enrique and that Lana will be tougher to crack than he thought. Let the hunt begin.

There are a handful of authors who are on my auto buy list with D.B. Reynolds being one of them. I've loved Raphael & Cyn, and by default, every one of the installments in the "Vampires In America" series. I was quite excited over Vincent after reading Unforgiven as the author found a way to continue the series after covering the continental US.

Vincent. A lady's man kind of guy. Tall, dark, sexy, oozing with sexual charisma and charm to boot. Lana. Strong, independent, intelligent and isn't afraid to get her hands a little bloody or dirty. Whatever it takes, Lana delivers. Time to sit back, charge up your batteries, and settle in as the sparks fly and the action heats up the pages of your e reader.

For the most part I was able to do the above. The suspense and mystery elements drove me crazy as the author wasn't giving away much until late in the story which basically meant the focus for the first half was on the core romance and setting the stage for the climatic ending. All well and good but I NEEDED to get past all that and get to all the good stuff (no adult content until later either). Mean sadistic author had to make me wait.... but it was worth it. :D

This brings me to something that actually pains me to say. While I absolutely love the author/series, there were noticeable discrepancies, plot holes, continuity errors. This was an issue for me as this isn't a newbie author who doesn't know about copy editors, beta/critique partners, or such. Truthfully, the casual reader fan who enjoys reading for the love of a story probably won't notice but I did. Someone dropped the ball but as I follow the non spoiler code of conduct I can't go into things like I'd like to.

The worst part of reading a favorite author book and series installment for me though is that I now have to wait until some unknown date in 2015 for Deception, the next installment. Always have been and will be a fan..... ...more

I like what is happening with the series because it is very creative and true from the beginning. Vincent is incredible and I'm glad we get to meet him. Lana is a similar character to Yn and I'm glad because weak female characters are irritating and boring. This is definitely getting good the point that I can't wait for the next installment. ...more

This was not my favorite in the series. I did like Vincent it was Lana I was never sold on. The ending was good and a nice set up for Deception which I'm very excited to read! I picked this one up and put it back down several times. Once I got to the halfway point though it was really good and I found myself actually eager to read it. ...more
