Shelves: angels, read-in-2014
Well this was a very interesting take on angels. Neat world building, neat characters, cool setting, the whole book worked. My only complaint is what the H.E. double hockey sticks kind of ending was that! I'm very glad book 2 is out because that left me wanting (obviously)! I've put off reading this book because a lot of times when I've enjoyed a series that's ended by an author I'm overly critical of a new one. This book starts slow and you really don't know what is going on for at least the first half. That made it easy to put down and hard to pick back up. Plus I didn't get a good feel for the characters and insta-love didn't help that.

The Irin and Irina are an interesting concept once it finally get explained. (view spoiler) I wish there had been more character development, but the guys are the standard fighting broth

Ava Matheson feels like she's losing her mind to all the voices in her head. Ava is photojournalist leading a solitary life because of the voices she hears all the time. Ava arrives in Istanbul in the hopes being free from the voices plaguing her constantly. Malachi Salarya is an Irin scribe inexplicably drawn to Ava's presence even while keeping The Grigori from harming her.
