What a delightful little tale! Murderbot is a misanthropic, Artificial Intelligence, a human-robot construct who feels anxious when people are looking at him, & would rather be left alone to binge-watch his favourite series. Self-named Murderbot - he has a past! - has managed to circumvent the governer controls that the Company installed & now has free-will. Despite himself, Murderbot finds himself empathising with the human exploration team it is his mission to protect, &, when things get nasty

This is one of those sci-fi books that I swore I would hate. It took me less then 24 hours to read it and I really liked it. It was full of sci-fi terminology that I usually hate and can't understand but this book was so easy to read and understand. It had humor and action. It had likable characters. It had an android in it that is finding himself which I find so funny. This android goes by a name only he calls himself and is embarrassed when this name is discovered by the humans. He calls himse

Murderbot
In the beginning I was thinking that I was missing something. Like there was something before that I didn't understand or something that I missed. Once I got past that this story picked up.
It actually ended up surprising me. Murderbot is just chill, like leave me the heck alone and let me do my thing and figure out what I want, but he's adamant about protecting his humans when things take an unexpected turn.
I'm curious to see where things are going to go for him after the end of this b ...more

This was very different from any sci-fi book I've read. Self-proclaimed Murderbot is sentient and bored with their job of guarding surveyors.
What I enjoyed:
* Murderbot's thoughts - they were confused by liking people and more confused when people liked them. Bored with their job, they aren't even doing the minimum
* The surveyor group was an interesting mix
* I didn't expect that ending (view spoiler)

After hearing so many polarizing thoughts on this from people either loving or hating it, I decided to find out for myself. I somehow fall into the minority of finding it ‘alright’. I enjoyed listening, and liked the personality of the Murderbot. I didn’t really connect to any of the other characters, they weren’t very developed to remember who was who that well. And the storyline was good enough GH but didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat or anything. I’m curious enough after the ending to con

4.5 stars.. Excellent story, but I wish it was longer. I really like the idea of sentient machines who like humans and follow our ideas of morality. Being human, I don't know if it logically makes sense for a sentient robot to want to help humanity. Humans are creative, but would a logical machine appreciate art and creativity? We are squishy with shortish useful life cycles.
