Book three of the Vampires in America series. Really well thought out world building and detail to the rules of her Vampire world and a nice combination of romantic suspense and paranormal. The character of Rajmund, the Polish vampire ready to take on the rule of his aging Master and a Vampire of integrity was well drawn, unfortunately the heroine Sarah Stratton the psychic Professor came across as a little weak and whiney and a huge contrast to Cyn the heroine of the first two books. The book starts with...sighhhhh....Raphael & Cyn visiting New York and Cyn's friend Sarah meets Rajmund the boss of Manhattan. Both Raph and Raj have a little talk. Raphael makes it clear to him that if Raj wants to grab power for the east coast...he won't stand in the way and that they should build an alliance. I love how Ty in her review compared Rajmund to Raphael:

Another winner...This story is centered around Raj a master vampire with immense powers and Sarah who has recreated herself literally. They cross paths because Cyn knows Sarah and they decide to meet for the weekend in Manhattan. It takes off from there.
Great pace, lots going on, good relationship building between Raj and Sarah.
Highly Recommend this book.

With the end of Jabril abruptly introducing Sarah, the opening chapter of this book confused me, but as I read I learned that Sarah has a few issues and that's what the first chapter was (her issue). This book starts with Cynthia & Raphael taking a trip to meet Sarah in NY city (& get Sarah out of Buffalo for some relaxation) and for Raphael to conduct some business with Rajmund. Anyone looking for more than a cameo from anchor couple Cyn & Raphael will be disappointed - this is not their story (personally, I wasn't disappointed). That being said, nothing is missing from this entry to the series. Hot Vamp? Check! A story you don't have to park your brain to read? Check! Vampire politics? Check? Chemistry between the leads? Check! Not completely TSTL heroine? Check! Oh did I mention Hot Vamp?

Sarah Stratton just can't seem to get a good night's sleep! Visions and premonitions keep happening and with the latest rash of missing women in the area Sarah feels as helpless as she did years ago as she struggled to control her gift and avoid being used by others as a parlor trick. But when the visions get to be too much Sarah decides she should offer her services to the police to try to bring the perpetrator to justice - but she leaves the police station, Sarah's girl parts are hi-jacked by the delectable image of Raj moving toward her. He's been designated as the vampire liaison to assist in the matter of the missing women. What Raj finds is corruption on a scale he hadn't expected and betrayal from an unlikely source as he and Sarah wend their way through loveland. The mystery was quite good, very suspenseful and not at all obvious. The intricately layered political angle fit perfectly in the slots and the budding romance between the leads moved at an acceptable pace. Mechanically everything worked well as even the secondary and tertiary characters very much deserve mention.

I had two huge issues here one was the mind rape! IMO it is abominable that authors callously come up with terms like mind rape and will rape in essence desensitizing people (mainly females on both ends of that equation) to the crime of rape. Readers would be up in arms if a male author did it. There has to be another was to say read someone's mind without permission.(ok off the soapbox) I also thought Sarah was flirting with moving to TSTL-ville when she shared information with someone she disliked rather than someone she knew was in a position to assist.
