This is a good book. Is it as good as her Demonica series? No, but then that's a very high bar indeed. I had some trouble at first, because in this series, vampires are hunted, defanged, gelded, enslaved, experimented on. Anyone who reads my books knows who and what my vampires are, so this was deeply disturbing to me on a psychological and emotional level. More than that, though, I had some trouble warming to the lead characters Nicole and Riker, especially as a couple. But soon enough I was en ...more

Larissa Ione's new series - good but it just doesn't have the "wow" factor like her previous series Demonica or the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and dare I say it is a tad predictable.

The series does show some promise though the next book with the leader of the Moonbound Clan Vampires, Hunter and a quest from the demon who was one of the secret creators of the Vampires looks interesting. Sometimes a series is slow to start.. I'm hoping this will be the case with this one.

3.5 stars.

Well Ms. Ione knocked this out of the park...it's one fab read.
She's created a wonderful and rich world, with strong characters, some American Native folklore and heart pounding moments.
Vampires are slaves to the humans and our heroine happens to be the heiress of one of the strongest families in the states; who also has herded and owned and sold hundreds and hundreds of vampire slaves. Enter Riker; a free warrior vampire on a mission. Let's just say sparks fly in more than one way when these t

Well, that turned out better than I thought it would. I shouldn't have had a doubt in my mind when it comes to the writing of Larissa Ione. I'm glad I stuck with it and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. ...more
