For the first time, I have re-read a book and found I disliked it, when the first time I read it I loved it. I don't know why the second reading (some four years after the first) was so disappointing, but I found the story laboured, the 'message' a bit patronizing and it all a little saccharine sweet for my liking. Perhaps this is more an indication of the changes in me (I have probably got more cynical over the past few years!) but if I hadn't had to read it for my reading group, I probably wou ...more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE BOOK!
I liked the beginning and the end, but the middle... all the boring, never-ending miserable chapters in the middle... *sigh*
