I LOVE THIS BOOK! I've said to a few people that if I wasn't married, I'd have to marry this book. :) I read the 400 page ARC in a less-than-24-hour time period (so quickly that it was never even on my "currently reading" shelf), which I've only done before with HP books, and I've just officially put the first book on my 2008 favorites shelf. only one word describes this book...AMAZING! It action packed and you don't want to put it down. It took me a bit to get into it because the world Suzanne Collins created is so different and unique. I loved this book and only put it down to sleep (damn sleep getting in the way). It left me breathless in parts and of course I cried. I love these characters and can't wait to continue their story with CATCHING FIRE!

Okay, first of all, to fend off any rabid fans, let me say that I think I tend to be stingier with stars than most people are. I really enjoyed this book, but I didn't love it. I was surprised by how much I liked it, but I think that has more to do with my incredibly low expectations (despite - or perhaps partly because of - the incredible buzz around the book; I didn't like any of the Twilight books, after all).

Couldn't put the book down from the second I opened it. I read it again recently and was just as hooked as I was the first time.

update 8/10/2010: Just completed my third read of The Hunger Games in just one and a half year's time. Yes, it's that good. And now exactly 2 more weeks until the trilogy conclusion: Mockingjay, is released at midnight!!
