A beautifully written book that helps us grasp a little of what it is like to live in the 1920's. A tale of one man's agonizing struggle to achieve wealth and fame and his fall from it. One of my son's favorite line of all literature is in this book. “For a single transitory moment man must have held his breath in the presence of this continent face to face for the last time in history with something commensurate to his capacity for wonder.
