I read this in high school and didn't much enjoy it. I know it's a classic and quite typical high school fare but I think it's too advanced for most high school students to enjoy.
The story is at best morose and while an honest depiction of a lost young man in a downward spiral it's probably NOT the best fodder for young minds.
As an adult I can appreciate it more, but I can now easily understand my earlier reacton to it. ...more

Holden is a whiny brat and I wanted to punch him in the face. I didn't like a single thing about this book and would give it 0 stars if I could!
