A wonderful look at a unique mind. Telling this story from the point of view of a boy with autism/aspergers made it more immediate but his keen sense of observation also made the pathos of his parents situation seem somehow more tragic.

Humor is often found in seeing something surprising and while our protagonist claimed that he could tell no jokes, he had me laughing out loud at several spots.

REREAD SEPT 2014. Enjoyed reading this again as much as the first time, especially since I had forgotten how it ended so I was kept in suspense up until the end.

2008 REVIEW: I loved this book! It is written from the perspective of an autistic boy who sets out to solve the murder of a neighborhood dog, but then ends up discovering another mystery to solve. I loved following the boy's line of reasoning as he solves these mysteries, along with him going about his everyday life. This book is funny,

This was an interesting book with a point of view from a young man who has autism. I had a hard time getting emotionally involved in the book in the beginning, but then was able to connect with the main character. This was a quick read that I would suggest to anybody.
