Very different book. It started out with a very Victorian feel, but modern styles of writing sneaks in every once in a while. This kept me intrigued until I got into the story. I sensed a bit of Rebecca in this book with Howard's End always being out there on the horizon like a mythical place. I like these books that bridge the gaps in between eras where I can learn how people saw the turning/ changing of the times like life in the country vs. life in the city.
