Misfits is now my favorite MMM menage ever. Perhaps listening to the audio was part of that as it was narrated to perfection by Craig Beck, but really the story is so heart warming to see these three great men come together with Tom and Cass embracing Jake's disability with love and understanding and Jake learning for the first time that he has a lot to offer the relationship.

I agree with other reviews that use the words beautiful and amazing. Highly recommend! ...more

This is my first Garrett Leigh book; there was another that I started but couldn't get into, but I'm going to revisit that later today, because this book was really excellent. Really really. Smooth writing, good story, satisfying read. It's so much easier for me to pinpoint what doesn't work for me than what does, so my positive reviews are always super lame. But I'll try to pull out a few things.

The portrayal of Jake's Tourette's. I know probably as much about TS as the average person, so gener This is my first Garrett Leigh book; there was another that I started but couldn't get into, but I'm going to revisit that later today, because this book was really excellent. Really really. Smooth writing, good story, satisfying read. It's so much easier for me to pinpoint what doesn't work for me than what does, so my positive reviews are always super lame. But I'll try to pull out a few things.

The portrayal of Jake's Tourette's. I know probably as much about TS as the average person, so generalities. At the end of the book Garrett notes that she met and got to know someone with TS while she was writing the book, and it's very obvious in the way Jake's portrayed that Garrett knows what she's talking about--at least it felt that way to me as a layperson. I liked how both Tom and Cass handled it, in their own ways, and I liked Jake's own descriptions of what he was feeling and how he dealt with it. I've never read a book with a TS character, and it worked so well with the story--it wasn't all that Jake was, but it was certainly an important factor, and it added depth of character so he was more than just a random hot guy without it being a pointless characteristic that was only included to dress-up an otherwise boring character.

From the threesome/poly aspect, the story is about two guys (in an already open relationship) who bring in a third after one of them meets the third on his own, and that's a hard one to sell, sometimes, without feeling like someone is a third wheel. But I think she did a good job of painting Cass and Tom's open relationship, of building relationships between both Tom and Jake and then Jake and Cass, and making the eventual merge of all three very believable and satisfactory. It was all well-paced--as much as I wanted them all to love each other immediately, I never got anxious or felt unsettled by the pace or the way with which they came together. I wish all polys were written this well.

This book was so far away from being about the sex that anyone looking for only that aspect probably won't love it. There was sex, but it used appropriately, when appropriate, wasn't the focus of the story, never overwhelmed, and wasn't overly detailed. This story was very much about the guys themselves as people and the relationships between them.

Like I said, lame review, but this is a definite future-reread for me.

Oh, and the writing was very solid. No complaints! ...more

When I first started this book I was skeptical of Tom and Cass open relationship. My first thought, someone is going to get hurt but that did not happen as expected. That said, thank you Garrett Leigh for an amazing love story between three men. To see their love for Jake grow into a beautiful relationship and the sensitive treatment of TS. I can say this will be one of my all time favorite books.
